Ready for another broken relationship in early recovery?
Romantic relationships new in recovery were not recommended by my sponsor. He said I had not loved myself for a long time and that new in recovery had no love to give anyone else. he told me that even though all of my previous romatic relationships had failed I could not see the problem. He went on to say, that early in recovery, romance would probably take the place of my Higher Power. He said I needed to stay focused on my delicate connection with God if I was to survive this disease. He told me to relax... he said at some point I may find Cinderella, but first, I needed to become Price Charming and that this would only be possible with time and a lot of help from my Higher Power. That advice saved me further heartache and made early recovery much easier for me.
