I Shall Not Want?
" The Lord Is My Sheperd.. I Shall Not Want "

I need to remember it was all the things I wanted when I came in here that were killing me! More alcohol, drugs, sex, food, money, vice whatever. To be sure,  those were the things that were doing me in. I have learned from all you fine folks out there in recoveryland, that what I need is the same thing that we all need... we need to accept the will of Christ in our lives.

Step11 - Praying ONLY for the knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry it out. When I first read this step I thought to myself " How can I get that new car if I do that...that's not gonna work! I can tell you today without a doubt, understanding this step has been a major key to real happiness and joy in my recovery. The word "ONLY" is the key. We need ONLY the willingness of God's Grace into our lives to straighten out the whole mess we had created.

It works! ...ask anyone who has something you want and they will tell you. Keep this in mind as you work on this step.... Did you know the way? Have you every known the way? If you have the same dis-ease as we have, your answer will be the same as ours, NO! If you want to, you can always try it again on your own, but... where did that get you the last time? Nowhere... or worst...personally I would not take the chance. Start working the steps now and show up every day at a meeting and try to listen mto learn... that was my prayer at the beginning... just stay the course don't get discouraged. Let Christ and the fellowship take it from there. Trust us when we say It will work.

It always works for the sincere heart!
